Talis Prism – Your new catalogue

The Talis Prism rollout programme has started in earnest with us working with initial customers to launch their new Library Catalogue. To find out how you can start to plan for your new catalogue you can register for a Talis Prism Day.

Talis Prism 3 update

There is a high level of anticipation for Talis Prism 3, which is bringing extensive and valuable advances. Changing this key part of the online service in many busy libraries requires care and flexibility. In addition to extending the features of Talis Prism 3, we are developing tools and processes to help our customers to achieve successful and smooth implementations.

Recent progress has been helped by working in close collaboration with a small group of public libraries. We are now looking to focus on the particular needs of academic libraries and to prepare a managed implementation programme for all customers.

Addressing academic library requirements

In order to focus effectively on the requirements of academic libraries, we are looking to work in close partnership with a group of three customers. This will require extensive time and effort of the part of appropriate library staff, collaborating with us on aspects including requirements clarification and prioritisation, beta testing, customisation, implementation and local IT issues. An early part of the process will be the upload of your catalogue to allow you to evaluate the current features of Talis Prism 3 against your own data.

If your library is interested in making this commitment, please contact your Account Manager as soon as possible.

Implementation

In addition to progressing with academic library functionality, we are now working to make the implementation of Talis Prism 3 a repeatable, smooth process for all, towards establishing a rolling implementation programme.

As a completely new product, Talis Prism 3 can be introduced alongside the current library catalogue, which can be withdrawn when the new catalogue has been established with users. Discussion with customers is indicating that this is likely to be a common and responsible approach to ensuring a seamless implementation.

In order to help you evaluate the readiness of Talis Prism 3 for your library and to plan for its implementation, we will provide you with a trial ‘tenancy’ – your own configurable instance of Talis Prism 3, looking at a demonstration data store. To register and be scheduled for this, please contact your Account Manager.
