hi, the preview release notice states that:

“This shows your current place in the reservation queue, or for multi-work reservations, your place in the queue of the first work that will become available.”

We are finding that no position number is shown for multi-work reservations.

Also wondering if there are any thoughts on displaying the information a little more helpfully. For example being in position 45 looks worse if it’s not made clear on the borrower’s reservations tab that the library has 20 copies of that item in stock.

Hi Graham, Sorry – the display of the queue position number for multi-work reservations requires a recent version of the Local Data Services (1.7.7 or higher), which in turn requires that you have Alto 5.5.1.

Your point about additional information to help the user evaluation the situation is a good one. We had considered using number of copies and possibly also loan periods and how long until the next copy is due to be returned; or perhaps as an alternative a statistical analysis of past performace. But any of that would have delayed delivery of the feature, so we’re keeping it under review for further development.
