Updates to the Prism Single Sign-On Metadata

As part of our ongoing programme of maintenance for Prism, we have updated our metadata required to secure the Single Sign-On feature as part of the Prism release on 29th July 2021.

Customers using SAML based authentication systems, such as Shibboleth, CAS or Open Athens, will need to apply our updated metadata to their systems.

Please download the updated metadata from the link below and ensure the encryption and signing certificates are updated on your Identity Provider before our existing metadata expires on 20th August 2020.

The new metadata is available online, direct from your existing Prism tenancy, as below:

https://prism.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/<your-tenancy-name>/saml/module.php/saml/sp/metadata.php/default-sp

In the above, just replace <your-tenancy-name> with your tenancy.

For example, the metadata for the /birmingham/ tenancy would be:
https://prism.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/birmingham/saml/module.php/saml/sp/metadata.php/default-sp

Please ensure you have downloaded the metadata and updated your systems before our existing metadata expires on 20th August 2020.

Stock purchase request – collection site now optional

Single sign-on certificate updated

The certificate used to provide Single Sign-On solutions with SAML based Identify Providers will expire on 20th August 2021. In order to provide a non-disruptive service, we have added our new certificate into the Prism system, allowing you to update your Identity Provider, ensuring no break in service.

Prism preview now accessible using the new URL

Hello

We sent out an email on Friday 30th April 2021 (see the end of this post) advising that the domain names and URLs that are being used to access our systems are changing.

We have now added the new URL to the Prism preview environment to enable you to test it in this context. You can still use the old URL to access this environment as well – demo.capitadiscovery.co.uk/{your tenancy name}. If you have your own host name, you’ll need to use prism-demo.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk instead.

What do I need to do?

We recommend that you use the preview environment to:

  • Test access to the new Prism URL using a browser from different locations, as soon as you can

To access the new URL

To access the system via the new url append your tenancy name to the end of it –

  • https://prism-demo.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/{your tenancy name}

Please remember that it accesses your live data.

Note: If you find you cannot access https://prism-demo.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/{your tenancy name} contact your IT department initially to see if this needs to be whitelisted.

Other things to do:

1.Customers using Prism SAML single sign on (SSO) authentication

If you offer single sign on via Prism SAML SSO then please arrange for the following meta data to be added to your SAML implementation:

https://prism.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/<tenancy-name>/saml/module.php/saml/sp/metadata.php/default-sp

https://prism-demo.librarymanagementcloud.co.uk/<tenancy-name>/saml/module.php/saml/sp/metadata.php/default-sp

You need to create entries for each of your tenancies using Prism SAML SSO e.g. for any sandbox tenancies you may have.

2.Contact any partners

We have contacted the partners we are aware of but please contact any partners that you work with to remind them about the URL changes for Prism e.g. Talis Aspire, Bolinda, ProQuest (Summon), Kortext (CLA Keys – was Rebus list).

Next steps

In the next few weeks we are planning to work our way through the following items:

  • Add the new URL to the Prism live environment so that both URLs operate in parallel
  • Add the new URL to the Admin console environment so that both URLs will operate in parallel
  • Add the new URL to the Soprano live environment so that both URL will operate in parallel
  • We are creating new google analytic accounts for the new URL so you will see both URLs in your google analytics console.

Starting from the w/b 14th June to support the remaining work to amend URLs, for the next four weeks we will be using additional maintenance windows every weekday between 6 and 8am from Mondays to Thursdays inclusive. There is a small possibility that there could be an impact on the live system but if we find this is the case we will backout the changes prior to 8am.

=========================================================

Email sent on Friday 30th April explaining the changes

Following the sale of Education Software Solutions (ESS) announced by Capita back in December 2020, we have updated our brand to reflect the new business.

We are delighted to announce that Capita Libraries has become Library Management Cloud. Our new brand is being applied to all aspects of our services, including the domain names and URLs you use to access our systems.

The following URLs will be updated:

How will this affect me?

There will be some local updates needed to enable the changes to be fully implemented. We will be in touch again to provide more detail about when and what will be involved.

In the meantime, please prepare for this change by advising your IT department about what is going to happen, reviewing any whitelists you have and thinking about communications for your users.

In addition to the URLs, we’ll be in contact again soon regarding upcoming changes related to the EDI Gateway and Base.
